According to eyewitness reports, Joshua was travelling in a Lexus SUV as part of a two-vehicle convoy when the car rammed into a stationary truck near the Danco Filling Station.

Eyewitness, Adeniyi Orojo, reported that two occupants of the vehicle—the passenger in the front seat and the person seated next to Joshua in the back—died on the spot.

Joshua, who was seated behind the driver, reportedly sustained minor injuries and was rescued alongside other survivors by Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials.

The boxing star had been in Nigeria for the holiday season following a recent fight in the United States.
