Association donates medical items to health centre in Delta

As part of measures to improve health care services in the rural areas, the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Delta state chapter has donated medical items to the Comprehensive Primary Healthcare Centre, Idumuje -Uno.

Dr. (Mrs.) Minnie Oseji, National President of MWAN, who is also the permanent secretary, Delta state Ministry of Health made the donation on behalf of the association at Idumuje Uno in Aniocha North Local Government Area.

“The Medical Women Association of Nigeria embarked on a nationwide project to promote maternal, newborn and child health in one health facility in each state of the federation of which Comprehensive Primary Healthcare Centre, Idumuje Uno is the 2019-2021 biennial adopted health facility for MWAN, Delta state chapter,” Oseji said.

She said the interventions to be implemented during the period include training, provision of medical equipment and flyers for health education as well as supportive supervision.

Explaining the implementation of the association’s laid out interventions, Oseji said one batch of training has been conducted for the matron, while the provision of medical equipment is with the intention of attracting support from the Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI) to the clinic.

Items donated include facemasks, hand washing buckets, flyers, reproductive health manuals, drugs and consumables.

The official in-charge of the health centre, Mrs. Anwadike Blessing, who received the items on behalf of the clinic’s matron, thanked the association for the good gesture and promised judicious use, and distribution of the items for the benefit of the community.
