Arteta delighted with victory at Leicester

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was delighted with their 2-0 win at Leicester.

Gabriel put the Gunners in front, climbing above several static Leicester defenders to head in from Bukayo Saka’s corner, while Emile Smith Rowe picked his spot when the ball broke to him after good work from Saka and Alexandre Lacazette.

Arteta later said: “I was really happy, against a top team. It is really hard to come here and win. The way we did it – we had to come here and suffer and we managed the game really well in the second half.”

On goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale’s save from James Maddison’s free-kick: “I have just seen the pictures, it was incredible. He saved them both. Those moments, the individual actions they are needed.

“We created a lot of issues for them. We carried on playing after 1-0 and scored the second. We knew they would change and get at us. There were moments we didn’t manage situations well enough but in the last 20 minutes we modified things and got control back in the game.

“We need to carry on. We haven’t done anything – we won a couple of matches and we want to improve. There are a lot of positives but there are a lot of things to improve.”
