Arsenal Clinch 14th FA Cup in dramatic comeback against Chelsea
Arsenal have defeated West London rivals, Chelsea, to seal a record extending 14th FA Cup title.
The North London side made a sloppy start to the game, conceding on the 5th minute after Olivier Giroud had set up American sensation, Christian Pulisic, who struck home with an unerring finish.

Arsenal eventually grew into the game and drew level on the 28th minute after referee Anthony Taylor had awarded the Gunners a penalty for a foul on the Arsenal skipper, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang by the Chelsea captain, Cesar Azpilicueta. Aubameyang stepped up and struck home with an expertly taken strike from the spot.
Chelsea had the chance to retake the lead immediately after the restart when Christian Pulisic made a terrific run into the Arsenal third but unfortunately saw his effort flash wide. This would be the American’s final contribution as he injured himself in the process.
Arsenal completed their comeback on the 67th minute which saw Hector Bellerin get into his stride with his characteristic pacy run which was intercepted by a tough tackle by Chelsea defender, Andreas Christensen. Nicolas Pepe latched on to the lose ball, setting up Aubameyang who produced a masterful feint to take Kurt Zouma out of play, before executing a deft left foot chip to beat Willie Caballero in goal.
The application of the dagger to the heart for Chelsea came on the 73rd minute, after Matteo Kovacic was sent off for a second bookable offence, effectively ending Chelsea’s chances of mustering an equalizer.
The win comes as a great boost to Arsenal’s underwhelming season, which grants them the last remaining Europa league slot. It is also Mikel Arteta’s first trophy for the North Londoners, which provides the perfect platform to build as Arsenal look to re-assert the club as one of English football’s heavyweights.
