Appeal court restores forfeiture order on Yahaya Bello’s properties

The Court of Appeal in Lagos has reinstated the preservation order on 14 properties and N400 million allegedly linked to Yahaya Bello, former governor of Kogi State.
The ruling overturns an earlier decision by the Federal High Court, which had lifted the interim forfeiture order secured by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In its judgment, the appellate court held that the EFCC followed due process and provided sufficient evidence to justify the preservation pending further investigations or possible prosecution.
The properties in question are located in high-value areas, while the N400 million is suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities.
This marks the latest development in the corruption investigation involving the former governor, who has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
