APC Youths Task Buhari on Empowerment
The All Progressives Congress Youth Forum has called on the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, to ensure that he empowers youths in Nigeria as promised during his campaign.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, Barrister Ismaeel Ahmed, Chairman of the APC Youth Forum said in order to achieve better national development, there was the need to train, empower and generate employment for the youths.
“Any nation that fails to prioritise the training and employment of its youth, should be ready to face challenges. Where you have youths without proper support, they may end up becoming miscreants,” he said.
He also advised parents and religious organisations to invest in youths, “Government should provide jobs, rehabilitate all technical schools and provide recreation centres in local government areas.
“The youths depend on the collective action of individual leaders. Leaders also depend on youths, because they believe that young people are full of creative abilities, and have used their skills and expertise to actively contribute to nation building,” he added.
Ahmed emphasised the need for a comprehensive plan for youth development in line with the country’s vision of preparing the youths for future and advised youths to embrace peace and contribute their quota towards national development.
