APC Wins Bauchi Governorship Election

It was a resounding victory for the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Mohammed A. Abubakar, who defeated his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) opponent, Auwal Jatau, with an overwhelming gap of about 377,284 votes, to emerge as Bauchi State governor, for the next four years.

The APC candidate was declared winner of last weekend election in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The State returning Officer, Professor Mohammed K. Farouk, made the announcement after receiving all the compiled results from the 20 local government areas of the state.
Prof. Farouk made the declaration at the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC office Sunday in Bauchi.
The APC candidate, Abubakar polled 659,934 votes to defeat the PDP candidate, Auwal Jatau, who got 282,650, out of the 965,838 total vote cast in the election.
Jatau’s lost was so glaring even as he lost in his local government area of Zaki. It would be recalled that the commission registered 2,058,514 people for the permanent voter’s card in the state.
In a similar development, APC also swept 30 out of the 31 House of Assembly seats in the state with PDP securing only one seat.
