APC UK moves to end leadership crisis

APC

…As interim committee hints of national headquarters’ truce

By Stephen Gbadamosi

The leadership crisis rocking the United Kingdom branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) may be laid to rest soon.

This hint was given in an address presented by the Secretary of the branch’s Interim Committee, Mr. Joseph Kolawole Adebola, a copy of which was made available to The Daily Times on Tuesday.

Mr. Adebola inferred that while internal efforts were being made to make the party in the UK have a workable and unified leadership, the leadership of the party in Abuja, Nigeria was being involved in the rapprochement moves.

“In light of the recent events over the past few weeks, I sincerely apologise for any embarrassment this situation may have caused our loyal and dedicated APC UK members and progressives worldwide.

“Despite the aggression and constant abuses on social media, sometimes regrettably, from fellow progressives, your unshakable loyalty to our party chapter and the Renewed Hope administration of Mr. President has been a source of inspiration.

“As the Secretary of the APC UK Interim Committee, I, J. K. Adebola, have worked tirelessly to unify our party and prepare it for a congress in accordance with the party’s directives. Despite my best efforts and numerous appeals for reconciliation and unity, circumstances beyond my control have led us to our current situation.

“However, as outlined in the Party Constitution, the party has internal mechanisms to address these challenges.

“To ensure peace and unity within the APC UK ranks, I reiterate my message from Saturday, 29 June, and strongly appeal to our loyal members and all progressives in the UK and across the Diaspora to remain patient, calm, respectful and law-abiding.

“Please do not succumb to provocations that may tarnish the party’s reputation. Let us continue to uphold the core values of our great party as we work towards a resolution.

“Rest assured, we are actively seeking redress and firmly believe that the party’s leadership will act in the interest of peace, justice and fairness.

“In conclusion, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our party’s National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja, Nigeria, for their firm commitment and dedication to ensuring peace and supporting party members, both nationally and internationally,” he said.
