APC releases schedule for FCT Area Council election

The All Progressives Congress, APC has released the schedule of activities for the Federal Capital Territory, FCT area council election. 

According to a press statement at the party national secretariat, Abuja on Thursday, the Director Organisation of the party, Prof Al-Mustapha Ussiju Medaner explained that the timetable is released in accordance with the party constitution and Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC guideline.

“In accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines, the APC hereby releases this time-table and schedule of activities for the conduct of Area Councils Election in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.”

He said notice of election to the FCT chapter takes effect on Wednesday, 31st March 2021, while sales of forms at the National Secretariat will commence on Wednesday, 7th to Tuesday,13th April 2021.

Prof Medaner further stated that the last day for submission of completed forms, with accompanied documents at the national secretariat, will be on Tuesday, 13th April 2021, while screening of aspirants will be on Thursday, 15th, April 2021.

Publication of claims and objections will hold on Monday 16th March 2021 and screening, appeals will hold on Saturday 17th April 2021.

The statement also said the Primary election will hold on Monday 19th April 2021, and the election proper will be on Wednesday, 21st April 2021.

It further indicated that Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms cost N550,000 and N110,000 respectively for the Chairmanship and Councillorship positions.

“Female Aspirants and Physically Challenged Aspirants are to pay 50% of the prescribed fees for each position,” the statement added.
