In a communiqué attended by the 11 ward chairmen of the local government on Wednesday during an emergency meeting, it was resolved that members of the party have given their approval that Faleye should be the party’s standard-bearer for Akure North state constituency in next year’s elections.

The communiqué reads: “The purported stakeholders meeting by few of our party members that joined APC after the 2016 governorship election was driven by greed, selfish interest and not familiar with the principles, ethics and ideals of our party.

“We therefore urge the national chairman of our great party comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the state chairman, Ade Adetimehin, party leaders and the general public to disregard the statement as signed by Joshua Eleti, chairman of the party in the council.

“INEC and security personnel were on ground to witness the primary elections as directed by the national secretariat.

“The party in Akure North at a meeting attended by Sen. Tayo Alasoadura, Mr Joshua Eleti, the party chairman in the local government, and other leaders unanimously agreed that the council chairman should come from Itaogbolu,” the communiqué read.

According to one of the leaders of the party in the local government, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, who is also the Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports in the state, there were two APC groups in the council area which had agreed to work together for the interest of the party.

He added that the position of councillors was also agreed on to be shared between the groups equally.
