APC Inaugurates 92 National Central Convention Coordinating Committee

The All Progressives Congress, APC, on Wednesday at the party National Secretariat, inaugurated it’s 92-member National Central Convention Coordinating Committee, charging them to rise above partisan interest, while discharging it’s duties.

The National Chairman of the party, Prof Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda during the inauguration, led by the former Governor of Katsina State ànd Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Bello Masari, said the convention is not a mere gathering but an affirmation of democratic values.

He said: “A Convention like ours, is not mere gathering. It is the affirmation of our democratic values, celebration of our internal democracy and a demonstration to Nigerians that APC remains the most organised, forward looking and the most viable political party that will stand election in Nigeria and can clearly be seen by all, through by-election conducted last year and this year.”

Prof Yilwatda recalled the last week Federal Capital Territory, FCT, election where he said the party won 5 Chairmanship positions, out of 6 and by-election that produced 2 House of Assembly members in Kano and in Rivers State, 4 over 4 for the APC.

“This victory, demonstrated the capacity of our party to deliver. It shut down all the noise from the opposition that Abuja belongs to them. We demonstrated that there is no presence of the so-called coalition in all the States that the elections were conducted.

“I am also, delighted that we have a statesman of the highest order leading this Committee, Alhaji Masari.  He is bringing into this assignment decades of experience and unquestionable integrity and a deep understanding of party administration.

“Your acceptance of this responsibility is a further demonstration of your selfless commitment to the APC and Nigeria.  We are honoured to have you at the helms of affairs of this Committee. We are proud, you will do a good job to the assignment that has been given to you by the party.

“You have been carefully selected because of your proven integrity, wealth of experience and your commitment to the ideals of our party.

“I charge you all to rise above partisan interest and personal sentiment. Let the good of this party, the colour of APC guide you in every decision that you make. Time is of essence. And I expect nothing short of excellence from each of you.

“The National Working Committee, NWC, and entire party structure, stands strong and ready to support you. You shall have the resources, cooperation and goodwill, required to deliver on this mandate.” he stated.

In his response, Chairman of the Commmitte, Alhaji Masari in his remarks stated that the responsibility is wholeheartedly, accepted for civility, great sense of duty and commitment to the ideals and aspirations of our party.

“The task before the Committee is clear, to coordinate all activities leading to a peaceful, credible and successful 2026 National Convention. We must approach this assignment with maturity, fairness and strict adherence to the party’s constitution and guidelines.

“Our objectives will be to conduct a civil and free convention that will strengthen and unify our party in order to reinforce confidence in the party’s internal mechanism. We shall work closely with the NWC and all relevant organs of the party in coordinating effective delivery.

“This Committee will deliver its mandate with impartiality and collective responsibility. We will consult widely, and act decisively in the overall interest of the party.

“Nigerians looks up to the leadership of our party and we must demonstrate that. We must ensure discipline in our internal affairs and, must ensure, ambition of others do not lead to the destruction of the party.

“A successful convention will not only lead to our success but unite our party, the APC,” he said.

Members of the Committee includes former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, who serves as Vice Chairman 1, Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, and Governor of Kwara State, Abdurahman Abdulrazaq, the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodimma and Mai Mala Buni, Governor of Yobe State, who served as secretary.

Also in the Committee is Chief Bisi Akande, pioneer Chairman of the party, the SGF, Senator George Akume, former Governors of the party, former National Chairmen and many others.
