APC doors open to all, Yilwatda blocking no entrant, says Plateau chapter

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Plateau State chapter has said the national leadership of the party is not preventing any prospective member of the party saying that the party’s door is rather open to all.
According to Hon Huzaifa Ibrahim, a chieftain of the APC in Plateau State, a certain group, Youth Political Movement of Nigeria (YPMN), alleged in a press statement, that the National Chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, is blocking new members, including serving Governors, from joining the party.
But reacting in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday, Hon Ibrahim dismissed as “false and mischievious,” stating that the group, falsely claimed that Prof Yilwatda has refused to open the party’s membership register, thereby, preventing Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, and other Nigerians from joining the APC.
“These allegations are entirely untrue, since assuming office in July 2025, Prof Yilwatda has overseen the registration of over 500,000 new members across the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, through ward-based and digital registration drives.
“The Chairman has personally supervised high-profile defection ceremonies in several states and consistently, preached the gospel of an open, inclusive, and mobilised APC that draws strength from diversity.
“The APC membership register remains open in line with Article 9 of the party’s Constitution. No policy, directive, or action from the National Chairman or the National Working Committee, restricts any eligible Nigerian from joining the party.
“Claims that Governors Mutfwang and Adeleke were ‘blocked’ are fabrications. Both Governors have held positive discussions with the national leadership.
He further stressed that: “The National Chairman views mobilisation as the lifeblood of a ruling party. He has repeatedly stated that the APC will continue to welcome patriots from all backgrounds who share President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of Renewed Hope. Far from closing doors, Prof Yilwatda has opened them wider than ever before.
“We note with concern that this is the latest in a series of coordinated attacks on the Chairman by shadowy groups with questionable APC credentials. These campaigns appear designed to create unnecessary tension ahead of the 2027 general elections.”
The APC urges genuine members and the general public to disregard such distractions and focus on supporting the transformational agenda of the Tinubu administration adding that, “the party remains united, progressive, and open to all Nigerians of goodwill.
