APC Convention: Group accused Gov. Badaru of injustice

A Group identified as Imo APC Stakeholders Forum has accused Governor Mohammed Abubakar Badaru of jigawa State and Chairman of the just concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) National convention of what they described as miscarriage of justice.
The Forum alleged that the injustice against re-election bid of the immediate past National Organising secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso was aided by the Chairman of the National Convention, Governor Badaru through his Governor brother, Rochas Okorocha who was blunt against Izunaso’s second coming.
Izunaso who had been the National Organising Secretary of the Party since inception was defeated in the just concluded party National Convention by Barr. Emma Ibejiro, believed to be the candidate of the Imo State Governor, Anayo Rochas Okorocha.
The Forum, while addressing pressmen in Abuja on Tuesday by its leaders, Dr. TOE Ekechi, Mazi Okey Ikoro and Barr. Kingsly Ononuj said that after due reflections on the recently concluded APC National convention,
and after due consultations with stake holders particularly from the South East, “we decided to share with party faithful and indeed all progressive Nigerians the ugly experiences at, and exceptions to what would have been a well organized National Convention of our great party, APC.
“You may also recall that for many months preceding the convention, the Governor of lmo State, Anayo Rochas Okorocha never hid his objection to Senator lzunaso’s re-election for personal reasons. He openly canvassed his determination to ensure that Senator Izunaso was not returned because, as he has openly admitted,
the Senator had consistently failed to do his bidding of hoisting his son-in-law as the next governor of Imo State. Consequently, Governor Okorocha has openly deployed himself and humongous resources of Imo State to ensure that this would be realized.
“But the outcome of the process with regards to the office of the National Organising Secretary shamefully betrays a conspiracy between Governors Badaru, the Convention Chairman and Rochas Okorocha of Imo State .
We opine that Governor Badaru was compromised by his brother Governor, Rochas Okorocha as can be clearly demonstrated in the following presentation”, the forum noted.
It was noted that with the announcement of Bar. Ibediro’s total winning figure of 1,749 against Izunaso’s 1,459 with a difference of 290, the “Ugly fact is that, these figures were collated from 30 states including the FCT and not the 36 states of the Federation that were duly accredited”.
The forum claimed that votes from some states were excluded from being counted all to disfranchise their candidate, Senator Osita Izunaso.
The Chairman of the Convention and the newly re-elected National Publicity Secretary of the party could not be reached respectively for reactions as all efforts made proved unsuccessful.
