APC celebrates Chief Bisi Akande at 81

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has felicitated with its first interim National Chairman and former Governor of Osun state, Chief Adebisi Akande on his 81st birthday.
The party described Akande as an astute administrator, father figure, voice of reason, a grassroots politician and an exemplary elder statesman.

Party’s spokesperson, Lanre Issa – Onilu in a statement said APC recognises the efforts of Chief Akande alongside other founding fathers in the formation of the party, its change agenda and in entrenching progressive politics in the country.
“The APC has tasked Baba Akande and other members of the party’s recently-constituted national reconciliation committee to meet with aggrieved party leaders and bring lasting peace and reconciliation across party ranks. We count on Baba Akande to bring to bear his experience and goodwill in achieving the committee’s mandate.
“The APC family worldwide prays that the Almighty God grants Baba Akande good health, long life and wisdom as he continues to contribute to the growth of APC and our great country,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Aliyu Abdullahi, has advised the newly sworn-in Governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodinma, to use his good offices to rally all politicians in the state irrespective of political differences and heal political wounds.
The senator charged the governor to embark on a process of healing for all political actors in the state, noting that doing so will greatly reduce tension and guarantee speedy development under his watch.
In a statement signed in Abuja congratulating Uzodinma and the All Progressives Congress (APC), the senator called on the newly sworn-in governor to as a matter of urgency prioritize the security and welfare of citizens of the state.
