APC alleges Mimiko planning anti-Buhari protest

The Ondo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Tuesday, said it has uncovered plans that Governor Olusegun Mimiko was allegedly planning to organise a rally against the anti-corruption war of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The party’s Publicity Secretary, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya, who made the allegation in a statement issued to journalists in Akure, the state capital, said some youths and thugs were been tipped to stage the anti-Buhari rally.

Adesanya alleged that N3, 000 each has been earmarked for the over 5, 000 youths and some imported students from the South-South region that would participate in the rally in Akure.

He said it was unfortunate that while workers are on strike for their unpaid six months accumulated salaries, Mimiko was allegedly planning to spend another taxpayers’ money on the illegal protest.

He further alleged that the move by the governor was because he is scared of the wind of anti-corruption war that is sweeping all corrupt individuals in the country.

“We know that Governor Mimiko is scared. Since his colleague in Ekiti state has been alleged to have link with the Dasukigate.

“Maybe the governor has some questions to answer in the ongoing investigations into the $2.1bn arms deal (Dasukigate), among the anti-corruption war going on in the country

“If Governor Mimiko has nothing to fear, there is no need for the plan rally against the Buhari’s anti-corruption campaign”, Adesanya said.

The Party declared that it was alerting members of the public mostly security agencies to be alert and battle ready to combat the army of youths that the governor is bringing to the state.

“Intelligence reports revealed to us that the youths would be armed with dangerous weapons. We appeal to students and youths not to involve themselves in the Mimiko’s rally against the anti-corruption crusade” it said.
