Anti-fraud Police unit arrests suspected counterfeit currency operator

The Police Anti-Fraud Unit at the Delta State Police Command has arrested one Abdulla shuaibu , a 40 years old man,  no193 Nnebisi road Asaba for allegedly given out in exchange of Euro Currency 37 pieces of fake Euro notes.
Confirming the arrest of the suspect, the police commissioner in the state, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim said the suspect was arrested based on a report by a customer (name withheld) who had met the suspect for an exchange of Euro currency, adding that in the process of their transaction, N3, 700 Euros of 37 pieces of 100 Euro notes were exchanged to naira equivalent of N1.8 million.
According to the police boss “after the day’s business the complainant discovered that all the 37 pieces of Euro notes were fake” disclosing that based on the fake transaction, the complainant a native of Imo State returned to the police who immediately made an arrest of the suspect.
The Police Commissioner said that the suspect upon interrogation and searched, the police recovered 87 pieces of different denominations of 100 Euro notes suspected to be fake adding that the suspect would be charged to court on completion of investigation.
 In another development, a middle-aged woman (name withheld) in Okpanam community, on Monday was set ablaze by yet unidentified persons in the area.
It was gathered that the incident which had enveloped residents of Ogbeozoma Quarters which the incident occurred, has created fear of the unknown in the area, which was allegedly burnt to death but the Police Image Maker in the State, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka who confirmed the incident said a man (name withheld) who tried to rescue her during the hours of operation was present in critical condition at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Asaba, when the suspects also lit him up.
His words: “In fact, neighbours who heard the man’s shout rushed him to the hospital while investigation is ongoing with a view of tracking down the suspects.”
Meanwhile, the police at the SCID have arrested one Mr. Ali Abubakar 33 year’s old man near Central Mosques, Deidel Abuja for illegal possession of fire arms.
The state Police Commissioner, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, confirmed that the police were on routine patrol along Asaba Benin Expressway when they intercepted a Toyota Hiace, commercial bus with registration No XC 291 AGB, adding that during search, two brand new automatic Jejeff pump action guns with breaches No’s 6611 and 6829 and packets of live cartridges were recovered from the suspect who claimed to be passenger, as the suspected claimed he was taking the guns to Benin for someone.
He said that the suspect currently being detained at the SCID would be charged to court on completion of investigation.
