Amotekun rescues five Kidnap victims in Ondo, foils N150 Million ransom demands

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, has successfully rescued five kidnap victims without paying the N150 million ransom demanded by their abductors. The victims were freed during two separate operations conducted on May 6 and May 10, 2025.

According to the Corps Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, four individuals were abducted on May 10 at Iromeh along the Lagos-Ore Expressway, with the kidnappers demanding N100 million for their release. The fifth victim was kidnapped earlier on May 6 along the Ikare-Owo Road, where the abductors requested N50 million. All victims were rescued without any ransom paid.

“Within minutes of the incident, we received a distress call and mobilised our operatives to pursue the kidnappers into the forest. We acted on credible intelligence and were able to rescue the victims unharmed”, Adeleye stated during a press briefing in Akure on Wednesday.

One of the victims sustained machete injuries during the abduction and is currently receiving treatment at an Amotekun medical facility.

Adeleye reiterated the Corps’ commitment to maintaining security across the state, He noted that officers are on 24-hour patrols and rangers are stationed in forests to respond promptly to any threats. He also assured the public that all information provided to the Corps would be treated with strict confidentiality.

“The Ondo State Government is fully committed to the safety of its residents. We are maintaining a zero-tolerance stance against crime, kidnapping, and armed robbery”, he added.
