Amosun vows to pay workers’ outstanding deductions

THE Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has emphasized the important role which co-operative movement plays in the socio-economic development of any nation or society. To this end, he has promised to pay up all outstanding deductions made from the workers’ salaries.
Amosun who made this declaration in Abeokuta, at the celebration of International Day of Co-operatives, with the theme “Inclusion”, also disclosed that the sum of N25million revolving loan with seven percent interest rate has been released to Ogun State Co-operative Federation limited (OGSCOFED) to boost its activities.
He said these gestures was part of concerted efforts to strengthen operations of co-operative societies in the state and make them perform expected roles in national development.
In his welcome address, the Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Hon. Gbenga Adenmosun, said the cooperative body had contributed immensely to the economic value of the state by means of various business investments and affiliations.
Also speaking at the event, President of the Ogun State Co-operative Federation limited (OGSCOFED), Alhaji Abdulrasaq Ola-Balogun, said the theme for the co-operative day “inclusion” was carefully chosen to offer the possibility for co-operatives to pursue initiatives towards the implementation of the sustainable development goals within the co-operative societies and the state in general.
He implored members of the society to tap into the opportunities provided for the co-operative members and be actively involved in their activities so as benefit tremendous in their various unions.
