Amosun, Daniel Congratulate Jonathan, Buhari

President Goodluck Jonathan has been described as a true democrat and peace-loving statesman by his acceptance of the outcome of the just concluded presidential election as declared by the Chairman of the National Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega.
Describing the act as a rare show of honour and respect for the rule of law, former Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State, said President Jonathan has etched his name in the book of history devoid of the door- die tendencies of some world leaders.
Daniel, who was the Ogun State Coordinator of President Goodluck Jonathan/ Sambo Campaign Organisation, also congratulated President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), for his feat at the keenly-contested election, urging him to chart a way forward for the nation.
President Jonathan, he stressed, remained one of the few African leaders to openly concede defeat in a continent where most leaders would prefer to sit tight. “The ‘change’ that Nigerians craved for, was not for want of achievements but the hope that General Buhari will continue on the path of the incumbent’s achievements and the foundation he laid for economic prosperity of Nigeria”.
He then appealed to Nigerians to remain peaceful and guide the nation’s democracy to the expected stability by accepting the change as a divine act that will usher in a new dawn for Nigeria. Also, Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has congratulated the president-elect, for his victory, which he described as a demonstration of the Nigerian people’s confidence in General Buhari’s strong leadership qualities.
In a statement by his media aide, Mrs Olufunmilayo Wakama, Amosun said:
“The people have spoken and demonstrated with their votes, their confidence in the ability of the president- elect to pull the nation out of its present economic woes,” he said.
The governor added that the trajectory of the president- elect, his principles and uprightness are some of the qualities that must have endeared him to the electorate.
