Amaechi, Abe cannot reconcile, declares Rivers PDP Chairman

The political rift between the former Rivers State governor and Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and the Senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District, Magnus Abe, is irreconcilable.

This was declared by the Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Felix Obuah, who said he observed that the fight between the two political gladiators was deepening on a daily basis.

The PDP Chairman in a statement issued in Port Harcourt said athough he shared political differences with the warring APC chieftains, he has not relented in seeking ways of brokering peace between the duo whom he said were dear to him as subjects.

Chief Felix Obuah who did not disclose why he took it upon himself to reconcile his political foes said that one of such efforts geared towards brokering peace between the warring factions of the state All Progressives Congress (APC) has resulted in convening of a meeting with supporters of Amaechi and Abe which he said would hold at his Palace in Port Harcourt on Saturday, August 19, 2017.

The Chairman said he extracted the agreement to convene the meeting when representatives of the two political leaders (Abe and Amaechi) met with him in his Palace over the week, and expressed confidence that the outcome of his meeting with the APC supporters would be fruitful.

The PDP recalled that the state PDP Chairman, had in the wake of the quarrel between Senator Abe and former Governor Amaechi elected to make peace between the duo despite the political differences between his party and the APC.

Chief Obuah said that he volunteered to reconcile them (Amaechi and Abe) whose pride and strong-headedness are tearing the APC apart in Rivers State.

The State PDP boss regretted that “his two subjects have started exhibiting same ego that pitched them against other progressive politicians in the state,” stressing that as aging leaders in the State, they should learn to conduct themselves in any group they found themselves, in a manner that would not threaten the peace and security of Rivers State.

“It is becoming too embarrassing for the two uncompromising APC leaders to be insulting themselves both on air and in print and by extension, the Rivers people,” the PDP Chairman said.
