Allegations against INEC malicious, Chairman
As the 2019 general elections approaches, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), said different allegations against activities of the Commission are for virtuous and malicious reasons.
Chairman of the commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu said INEC anticipated these challenges and is far ahead of the mischief makers.
He said this at the third quarterly meeting of INEC with political parties in Abuja on Wednesday.
He said only a few days ago, Nigerians were legitimately outraged by the image of blank PVC advertised by an offshore company for purchase in the open market.
Denying plans by INEC to connive with political parties to rig elections, Yakubu said it is unfortunate that in certain quarters, there is still the fixation that INEC officials are involved in deliberately perverting the processes and procedures for partisan considerations.
