Akwa Ibom Marks One-Year Memorial of Late First Lady, Pastor Patience Eno

The Government of Akwa Ibom State on Thursday marked the one-year memorial of the late First Lady, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, with glowing tributes to her life of service, faith, and enduring impact.

At a solemn memorial service held in Eket LGA, Akwa Ibom State, members of the College of Commissioners and Special Advisers, led by their Dean, Hon. Frank Archibong, expressed their deepest sympathies to Governor Umo Eno and his family, while celebrating the remarkable legacy left behind by the late First Lady.

In a tribute message delivered on behalf of the State Executive Council, Archibong described Pastor Patience Eno as “a pillar of strength and a vessel of God’s grace whose warmth and kindness touched countless lives across the state.”

He highlighted her pioneering humanitarian work through the Golden Initiative for All (GIFA), a flagship programme she founded to empower women and youth, provide scholarships, promote skills acquisition, and support health and education initiatives.

“GIFA was not merely a concept but an actionable plan for community transformation,” Archibong said, noting that the continuity of the initiative through the First Lady’s office remains the most authentic tribute to her memory.

The Dean commended Governor Umo Eno for his resilience and fortitude in leading the state despite the personal loss of his wife and confidante. “Leading with a heavy heart is a burden few can bear, yet Your Excellency has continued to steer the ship of state with clarity, purpose, and dedication,” he remarked.

The service, which drew government officials, clerics, and members of the public, reflected on the virtues of the late First Lady and her lasting contributions to the state’s development and social welfare.

Prayers were offered for the Governor, his family, and for the continued success of the programmes initiated by the late First Lady.

Pastor Patience Eno, who passed away in September 2024, is remembered for her humility, compassion, and commitment to the well-being of Akwa Ibom people. Her legacy, officials said, continues to blossom through the lives she touched.
