Akeredolu’s inauguration,police assures security

Less than 48 hours to the inauguration of Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, as the new governor of Ondo state, the state police command has assured adequate security of the lives and properties during and after the inauguration ceremony.

Speaking with journalists in Akure, the state capital, on Wednesday at the command’s headquarters, the Commissioner of Police Mrs. Hilda Ibifuro Harrison, urged individuals to be law abiding saying that security is everyone business.

The police boss, while parading some suspects involved in crimes activities in the state, said that “our business is to warn everyone to be law abiding, infridges and breaches of the law will be treated appropriately.”

Meanwhile, she said that on February 13, 2017 at about 8:20am, a complainant from Okitipupa reported that a gang of armed robbers invaded his house robbed him of his properties, others members of the public equally reported that they have been having sleepless night due to the activities of the men of the underworld.

Ibifuro-Harrison posited that the DPO attached to Okitipupa and his men, while following the incident, mounted surveillance which led to the arrest of suspects. They included Enetufo Ajinde, aka Ajana (45) now deceased; Ogunyemi Sola, aka old soldier (26); Adegbohun Dayo (21); Daisi Enetufo (38) and Anifowose Alaba (22).

She said that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to belong to a gang of armed robbers terrorising Okitipupa. She also disclosed that the robbers confessed to have escaped from Olokuta prison custody and were responsible for the killing of a policeman attached to Okitipupa division and took away his rifle.

The CP however said her detectives are on the trail of the fleeing members of the gang and possible recovery of the AK47 rifle.
