Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has called for sober reflection, particularly among Christians in Nigeria over the wind of change blowing across the country as
Labour Party gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State also urged Nigerians to pray for true liberation and progress of the country during Easter celebration.

Ajimobi in his Easter message issued in Ibadan on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Festus Adedayo, also tasked Christians to pray for the successful staging of the next phase of elections coming up on April 11.

Otunba Alao Akala in a message to christian faithful at the 2015 Easter celebration said Nigerian need to pray Genuine liberation which will positively affect the progress of our nation

Gov Ajimobi thanked the Christians for their fervent prayers during the 40-day fasting which culminated in the Easter celebrations, saying that the prayers had manifested in the peaceful and violence-free presidential and National Assembly elections held on March 28.

Governor Ajimobi urged them not to relent in their prayers for the sustenance of an atmosphere of love and togetherness for Nigeria to attain the much-desired greatness and be counted among the comity of successful nations.

He urged Nigerians to emulate Jesus Christ who voluntarily offered himself as a living sacrifice for the redemption of mankind.

He also said that they should use the occasion of Easter celebrations to reflect on the opportunity offered them by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ to be closer to their Creator.

“Easter is not about wining and dining. Rather, it is an occasion to realize that we need to love one another as exhibited by God who, out of his love for mankind, offered Jesus Christ to die for our sins and to give life more abundantly.

“This being the case, we should now eschew any divisive tendency, violence and other things that are antithetical to the teachings of Jesus Christ,’’ the governor said.

While commending the Christians, Muslims and other religious adherents in Oyo State for their peaceful co-existence, Governor Ajimobi urged them to troop out en mass next Saturday as did on March 28 to perform their civic duties by voting for the candidates that will sustain the present level of development in the state.

“. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ bring hope to the Christians and liberate them from the shackles of death and suffering’ so we must also use the occasion of celebration of Christ death and resurrection to pray for our nation so that we will be able to stand on our feet as a nation”
” Nigerians should also pray for successful transition and conduct of other election which will take us away from where we are now as a nation and place us at the exact place where we should be at the committee of nations

While expressing optimism that his party would clear the gubernatorial and state Assembly election in the forthcoming election said ” we are ready for the election, it won’t go the way of the Presidential and National Assembly election and I can assure you Labour party will win the election”.
