Ajimobi inaugurates road in iseyin as PDP Rep. candidate, others defect to APC

 

The ancient town of Iseyin in Oyo State literally stood still on Tuesday as Governor Abiola Ajimobi inaugurated the first dualized road in the history of the town as part of his administration’s urban renewal programme.

The governor also used the occasion to received hundreds of defectors from Peoples Democratic Party, Labour Party and Accord Party led by Mr. Adebayo Moruf Alaka who contested and lost the March 28 House of Representatives election in Iseyin-Itesiwaju-Iwajowa-Kajola Federal Constituency under the PDP as well as Messrs Kayode Ojo and Waheed Adeleke of Labour and Accord Party respectively.

The residents of the town, who trooped out in their large number, could not hide their happiness as they expressed appreciation to the governor for improving their socio-economic lives through the dualization of the township road.

The road, which passes through Iseyin town, has all the road furniture including street light, traffic light, drainage and others.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Ajimobi said that the project was in line with his administration’s policy of ensuring that entry points to all major towns in the state were dualized.

He said that the dualization of the road would improve the socio-economic development of the area and by extension, the quality of lives of the people.

The governor said that the reconstruction of Iseyin-Okeho Road would also commence as soon as all the contractual arrangements were concluded.

He commended the people of the area for voting for the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the Presidential and National Assembly elections held on March 28, urging them to repeat the same massive votes for him on Saturday to ensure his emergence as the first second term governor in the state.
