The Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Aisha Alhassan on Tuesday held a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Alhassan, a known loyalist of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar who resigned his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday, is being mentioned among those who may leave the cabinet and join Atiku.
The minister had in September said she would support Atiku against Buhari if the former Vice-President expressed interest in the 2019 presidential election.
But her statement has attracted criticisms while many analysts have asked her to resign from office.
However, when State House correspondents approached her for comment on Atiku’s exit, the minister kept mute.
Alhassan met the President shortly after she and some of her colleagues attended the inauguration of the Policy Framework and National Action Plan for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism at the Presidential Villa.
