Ahmad Ahmad cleared for CAF presidency

Confederation of African Football (CAF), president Ahmad Ahmad, who was earlier suspended and later banned from contesting the forthcoming CAF elections has been reinstated by the body’s Governing Council.

The Madagascan was earlier banned by world soccer ruling body FIFA over allegations of wrong-doing and corruption.

But he took the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), which after looking into the case cleared him of the allegations and asked him to return to his position as CAF president.

He resumed at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, January 29. Before then he had told the Governing Council of the decision o CAS, even as he awaits full details of the judgement.

The CAF polls will hold in Rabat, Morocco, during the election congress of the body in June this year.
