Agbi, others shine in CBN Tennis

Happy Agbi has emerged champion of the U-10 boys category of the 2017 edition of the Central Bank of Nigeria Annual Junior Tennis tournament when he defeated Seun Ogunsakin 8-2. Michael Osewa defeated Augustine Stephen 8-7 to emerge champion of the boys U-18 division of the tourney held in Lagos.
Marylove Edwards outclassed Toyin Asogba 8-1 to win the GirIs U-16 title, while Emma Jebutu beat Mathew Abamu 8-5 to lift the Boys U-16 trophy.
Boys U-14 title was won by David Dawariyi who defeated Usman Kashimo 8-2, while Timipre MaxweII beat Rebecca Empeyong to claim the GirIs U-14 title.In Boys U-12 category, DanieI AdeIeye emerged victorious when he defeated David Ekpeyong 8-3 in the finaI. Oiza Yakubu oustroked BIessing Otu 8-5 to win the U-12 GirIs category.
Nene Yakubu defeated Mary Benjamin 8-3 to claim victory in the U-10 category.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, the Governor of Central Bank of the Nigeria who was represented by Mr Isaac Okoroafor, AG Director Corporate Communications Department of CBN, commended everyone that contributed to the success recorded in the course of the championship even as he gave kudos to the junior players for dispIaying exceptional talents which will aid them in graduating fast to the CBN Senior Tennis category.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Central Bank of Nigeria towards developing sports in the country especially tennis.
