After3 Weeks , Army Invades Kanu’s Home Again, Carts Away Items

Barely three weeks after Nigerian Army personnel invaded the country home of the leader of the now-proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, in Afaraukwu, Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, reports have been confirmed that soldiers invaded the premises again Sunday.

Kanu’s younger brother, Emmanuel Kanu, revealed that the invading soldiers also carted away some household items like television, generating sets, clothes, among other things.

“The international community should prevail on the Nigeria Army to stop raiding our home again. We have been telling the Army to produce my brother whose whereabouts has remained unknown since after the September 14 military invasion of our compound”, he said.

Following the reports, the military confirmed the operation but denied removing any household items from the compound.

The Desk Officer in charge of Operation Python Dance in Abia State said, “We were there in search of weapons, no household items were removed from Kanu’s home. somebody was arrested with weapon in the compound”.

The officer revealed that the operation was a joint exercise with the police, adding, “you can make further enquiries from the police.

“The things removed, may be technical items, somebody was also arrested with a weapon in the compound”.

He said the operation was based on specific intelligence that arms were hidden in the compound.

As at yet, the whereabouts of Kanu is still unknown following the first invasion by the army.

With the adjourned date of October 17 for continuation of hearing of the federal government’s case against Kanu just a week from now, many have been asking what would happen in court if he still does not surface, while some may wonder whether there was any connection between this invasion and his court case.
