After intervention by GAC, Lagos Assembly lifts suspension of four lawmakers

Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa yesterday announced the reinstatement of four lawmakers who were earlier put on suspension by the House.

Obasa said that the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) and the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress called a meeting on Tuesday to intervene in the crisis and directed that the House should reinstate the suspended lawmakers.

Obasa said they decided to lift the suspension on the four lawmakers after a meeting with the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), which was presided over by the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and attended by other party leaders such as, Governor Babajide Sanwo -Olu, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Dr. Abayomi Finnih, Prince Rabiu Oluwa, Chief Lanre Rasaq, Alhaji Shakiru Seriki and many others on Tuesday, March 26, 2020.
He said at the meeting, it was agreed that the House should recall the suspended members to their seats.
The affected lawmakers are Hon. Olumuyiwa Jimoh, who was the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Rotimi Abiru, who was the Chief Whip, Hon. Moshood Oshun and Hon. Raheem Adewale.
Their indefinite suspension was announced at the plenary on Monday, 9th of March and the affected lawmakers and their aides were later denied access to the legislative complex as their offices were sealed.
