African Prudential, Axa Mansard top gainers’ list
Investment opportunities and the high liquidity nature of equities have continued to endear the shares of African Prudential Insurance Plc and that of Axa Mansard Plc to investors.
For example, for the week ended 29th September, 2017, the two companies, commanded high gains on their equity prices as sound reward on price growth as key components of the top ten gainers table for the week.
Whereas, African Prudential emerged the highest gainer in the insurance sector, placing 7th on the week’s gainers table with N0.18 or 5.42 per cent equities price growth, it closed week’s trade at N3.50 per share.
Africa Prudential for the week ended 29th September, 2017 recorded a turnover of 13,331,876 million shares worth N43, 605,618.83m, which was transacted by investors in 267 deals. The company’s stock price closed the week at N3.32 per share.
Axa Insurance Plc followed on the gainers’ table, with N0.10 or 5.26 per cent appreciation in its equity price, closing the week at N2.00 per share.
Axa Mansard closed the week with a total turnover of 12,251,634 million shares, worth N24, 327,938.30m, which was recorded by investors at 36 deals. The company closed trade for the week at N1.90 per share.
Meanwhile, C&I Leasing led the top ten gainers for the week ended September 30, with 28.35 per cent gain, followed by Fidson Health cares with 17.33 per cent growth in equity price, while Unity Bank placed third on the table with 15.38 per cent.
Transnational Corporation of Nigeria placed third on the gainers’ table with 10.57 per cent gain, followed by Honeywell flour with 6.32 per cent and Neimemith that gained 6.25 per cent.
Zenith International Bank recorded 6.12 per cent, followed by African Prudential and AxaMansard with 5.42 per cent and 5.26 per cent gains, respectively, while Sterling Bank closed the top ten gainers table for the week with 5. Per cent equity price growth.
Continental-Re, closed the top ten losers table for the week with N0.07 or -4.46 per cent loss, closing trade at N1.50 per share, having opened trade at N1.57.
However, turnover in the company’s shares during the week lifted market turnover, as investors’ activities in the top three equities, Continental Reinsurance, Sterling Bank and Access Bank, measured by volume accounted for 412.840 million shares worth N1.486bnin 817 deals, contributing 31.14 per cent and 10.55 per cent to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively
