AFCON Qualifier: Adebayor’s return boosts Togo

Togo were handed a major boost ahead of their clash with Tunisia in Lomé on Tuesday, after Emmanuel Adebayor agreed to return to the national team.
Defeated 1-0 by the Carthage Eagles in Monastir on Friday, in the first leg of their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers double header, the Sparrow Hawks will be counting on their skipper to bounce back in front of their home crowd.
The Crystal Palace striker, who ruled himself out of the Tunisia trip by turning down his call-up, reconsidered his position at the request of Togo officials.
Back on the training pitch with his international teammates, the 32-year-old will be handed the task of leading the Togolese to a crucial victory, with Liberia, Togo and Tunisia all tied on six points at the top of Group A halfway through the qualifying campaign.
