AFCON 2025: Jalla cautions media against attacks on Super Eagles

Harrison Jalla,  Chairman, Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) Task Force, has cautioned media personalities and organisations against attacks on the Super Eagles over issues of unpaid bonuses.
Jalla told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos that the Super Eagles players deserve their entitlements within the agreed time.
He said that this is important, especially as major tournaments like AFCON progress; timelines for bonuses are not open-ended in delivery.
“The leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had two full years to work on the logistics for AFCON, “he said.
He said that the NFF and NSC officials were never owed daily allowances and estacodes for the Morocco trip, and they have personally funded their trips as patriotic Nigerians.
Jalla alleged that official delegations are paid in hard currency, either before departure or immediately upon arrival, at any continental or global tournaments.
“This is irrespective of how the national team eventually fares in the competition. Why then should the players be crucified for demanding their legitimate entitlements, “he said.
The Super Eagles has been outstanding in the ongoing AFCON so far, particularly in the last two games against Uganda and Mozambique.
NAN reports that the Super Eagles on Wednesday demanded payment of their four-match win bonuses before resuming training or travelling for their quarter-final game against Algeria in Marrakech on Saturday.
However, the Minister of State for Finance, Mrs Doris Uzoka-Anite, disclosed today that the Federal Government was addressing concerns over delayed payments to the team.(NAN).
