The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Air Force, Rep. Shehu Koko (APC-Kebbi), made the call in a congratulatory message to the officers on Sunday in Abuja.
Koko described the promotion as a morale booster that would encourage more commitment and dedication to duties.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Air Force Council had on Nov. 9 approved the promotion of 99 senior officers to higher ranks.

The officers promoted comprised 13 Air Commodores elevated to the rank of Air-Vice Marshal (AVM), 35 Group Captains (Group-Cpt) to the Air Commodores while 51 Wing Commanders moved to Group-Cpt.
Koko, who represents Maiyama/Koko/Besse Federal Constituency of Kebbi, urged the elevated officers to see their promotion as a call to higher service of their fatherland.
“I want to, on behalf of members of the House Committee on Air Force, join the Chief of Air Staff and the entire management and staff of the Nigerian Air Force to congratulate all the officers affected by this promotion.
“It is a thing of joy to see officers and men of our security outfits being appreciated by their superiors, who deem them worthy of elevation to the next level of their careers.
“The committee also wishes to note that to whom much is given, much is expected, which is why they must see their promotions as a call to higher service of their fatherland.
“They must use these new offices and ranks to advance the course of our national security like never before,’’ he said.
The lawmaker said that Nigerians were looking up to the promoted officers to keep the country safe.
He pledged that the House would ensure that all necessary provisions were made to enhance the operations of the Air Force. (NAN)
