Adopt dialogue approach to tackle crises in country – FG advised

As part of efforts to curb ethnic crises in the country, the federal government has been advised to adopt community youth leaders dialogue appraoch to help address some the root cause of the crises as well as help in bringing everlasting peace among Nigerians.
The Director- General and President, African Grassroots, Empowerment Organizations (AFRIGEO), Prince Home Namene gave this address in Abuja while addressing members of the Press on the activities of the group.
According to him, the need for governmnet to use such approach cannot be over emphasised as it will help to checkmate crimes and conflicts at grassroots through strict youth/ police relationship.
“National unity is of utmost importance to Nigeria as a multi ethnic nation and there is no better time to address it than now.
It is on this note that the African Grassroots Empowerment Organizations wish to re-awaken the federal government’s consciousness on the need to adopt tis new approach that will help this nation a lot in solving its myriad problem confronting it.
“We have in the past successfully championed youth community’s dialogue, as part of our core mandate.
We therefore call on the government at all levels as well as security agencies to embrace this idea and partner with us.
He further added, our organisation is set to lead the way for dialogue between the Federal Governmnet and various ethnic groups in the country. It is also important that government put in place a permanent structure to end ethnic clashes in the country.
The Director- General also stressed the need for government to give adequate attention to local government autonomy as it will help to provide employment to idles youths at the grassroots.
He however commended the State Governors of Abia, Kano, Imo as well as Plateau for their role in canvassing for sustenance of peace in Nigeria.
