Perhaps unsurprisingly, the event has been followed by big calls to pull Ighalo out of international retirement and back into the Super Eagles dressing room.
Former Super Eagles international Mutiu Adepoju feels the 30-year-old Ighalo shocked be checked if he might be interested in wearing the green jersey again.

“His move to Manchester united is a very good move and on the part of whether he should be monitored or convinced to come back to the national team,” Adepoju said to Brila.
“I think that decision should be left for him to take if he wants to come back. Nobody should be forced back.”
