Adeleke, Ogunbiyi feud won’t affect PDP success at the poll

The lingering crisis between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Osun State, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke and the aggrieved aspirant in the party, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, will not in any way affect the chances of PDP from winning the September 22, governorship election.

Chieftain of the PDP in osun state and former governorship aspirant, Akogun Dr. Kamorudeen Lere Oyewumi told The Daily Times, in an interview.

Oyewumi said that although Ogunbiyi who came second in the party’s primary had alleged outright vote stealing and manipulation by the Adeleke’s camp during the primary election conducted by Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, the crisis would not deter the main opposition PDP from emerging victorious in the poll.

He said from the research carried out by the research and strategy unit of the Ademola Adeleke Campaign Organization coupled with the level of awareness and sensitization already created by the PDP, Ademola Adeleke remained the most popular candidate among the contenders for the Bola Ige House in the coming governorship election.

He urged all eligible voters who are yet to collect their PVCs to do so as a matter of urgency, warning them to resist some “desperate politicians” going about offering N10,000 per PVCs to the electorates.

Oyewumi also called on the electorate to be watchful of their neighborhood during the election and report strange faces who might be imported by unscrupulous politicians to vote during the election.

The erstwhile chairman Irewole Local Government Council also assured the people of the state that the PDP government would serve them better, stressing that ‘Adeleke will govern in the best interest of our people ’.

He therefore called on the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) to stage a level playing ground for all the political parties participating in the election, to ensure free, fair and credible pol.
