Adamawa inaugurates State audit commission

The inauguration of state Audit Commission has been described as indication of government determination to ensure the sustainability of its anti-corruption drive.

Auditor General of State Audit, Alhaji Abubakar Iya Gurin, who stated this in an interview in his office, explained that government has also re-engineered office of the state Auditor General for maximum result.

The state Auditor General said approval of the state Audit law by the state government is ahead of Plan by the National Assembly, which is about enacting the law and described the State as leading the fight against corruption.

Alhaji Gurin, who is also the Sarduanan Gurin, recalled that Governor Muhammad Umaru Jibrilla has assented the state Audit law in December twenty sixteen, and anticipated the state Audit to perform maximally to check corruption among government ministries, agencies and departments.

While stressing that the state Audit commission comprised of experienced professionals, the state Auditor General pointed out that other mandate of the commission include considering new appointment, promotion, disciplinary measures, remuneration, and ensuring strict adherence to international audit standard.

He said the commission also have the mandate to appoint auditors to audit office of the auditor general of the state Audit adding that is serve the purpose of checks and balances in the sector.

Alhaji Gurin, who is a member of the commission, lauded government hosting of the anti- corruption summit in the state, which was blessed by the presence of President Muhammadu Buhari and appreciated Governor Muhammad Umaru Jibrilla effort to provide funding to the state Audit office.

The state Auditor General disclosed that Governor Muhammad Umaru Jibrilla has also approved the twenty eighteen budget of the state Audit and appealed for synergy to enable the state Audit discharge its mandate in line with anti – corruption drive of Governor Jibrilla led administration.
