ActionAid Nigeria (AAN) has appointed Dr Jummai Umar-Ajijola as its new Chairperson. This was disclosed in a statement by Mrs Nihinlola Ayanda, the Communication Coordinator of the organisation in Abuja on Wednesday.
Ayanda said that Ajijola until her appointment was a member of the board with over 23 years working experience that spans across the public and private sectors.
She said Ajijola succeeded Prof. Patricia Donli, the out gone board chairperson, who had retired to join ActionAid General Assembly after serving for six years.
She listed other members of the board executive elected as Mr Imoni Amarere, Vice Board Chair and Board Treasurer as Mr James Milahan.
Ayanda said the decision was made at the 36th Board Meeting of the organisation held on June 9, in Abuja
According to her, Ajijola is a PhD holder in Public Administration and Policy Analysis. She is also a Fellow of the United Nations University, Maastricht, Netherlands.
“She is a recipient of several awards, including the prestigious Executive Leadership Award for support to the Women and Children of Liberia.’’
