Acting IGP, Arase Pledges Quality Leadership

The Acting Inspector General of Police, (IGP), Solomon Arase, on Wednesday, assumed duty with a pledge to provide the highest possible level of professional quality leadership for the Force.
He said the Force will deploy resources and potent assets to deal firmly and decisively with deviants in the society.
Arase, who took over the police force as the 18th indigenous Inspector General of Police, stated this at a brief handover ceremony from the former IGP, Suleiman Abba, at Louis Edet House, Abuja. He said it is his conviction that the lost glory of the force will be restored.
“It is my firm conviction that if the quality manpower potentials of the force are blended with purposeful and motivational leadership at strategic level, the lost glory of the force within the internal security architecture of our country can and will be restored” Arase said.
Arase said that the men and officers of the Police force must resolve both individually and collectively to hold their duties sacred, perform their functions with pride and exhibit the highest level of professional excellence in all their official engagements.
He charged them to remain accountable to the citizens and relate with courtesy as true public servants, and with the dictates of rule of law.
Accordingly, he said that apart from police routine duties which must be delivered, two major national assignments; the conduct of the inconclusive governorship elections in Abia, Imo and Taraba states, and the presidential, governorship and National/State Assembly inauguration ceremonies must be delivered.
Consequently, the new IGP maintained that while the unique assets of the force will be deployed to proactive support, there shall also be massive deployment of men and materials to the affected areas in order to ensure a secured environment and prevent social disorder
