ABSG to ensure average life expectancy in state averages 60 years – Ikpeazu

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has inaugurated the Abia State Primary Healthcare Development Agency Board with a charge to live up to expectation in championing primary healthcare to the people of the state.

Inaugurating the board at the Government House, Umuahia, the Governor said that the agency is the plank that will drive government’s desire to ensure that life expectancy of Abians averages 60.

‘’Our desire in Abia state is very simple in terms of health. Our plan is to ensure that life expectancy averages about 60 above the national average”, he said pointing out that the essence of the board was to see to it that the health policies of the state are implemented without let or interferences from the government for the benefit of the people.

“Intervention at the level of primary healthcare is the key in our desire to ensure that healthcare reaches our people. Therefore, the responsibility that will face the board is huge, ‘’ he said, expressing his expectations that the board lives up to expectation of the government and the entire Abia State.

In his speech, the chairman of the 24-member board which has Chinagozi Adindu as the executive secretary, Dr Madu Awa thanked the Governor for finding them fit to serve and for his many interventions in the health sector, assuring that they will remain committed in strengthening the health sector of the state.
