Abia rape victim’s parents laud Aisha Buhari, Ikpeazu

Following the directive of Nigeria First Lady, Aisha Buhari, the Wife of the Abia State Governor Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu built and handed over three bedroon for Mr and Mrs Okezie Ejike at Okaiuga Nkwoegwu in Umuahia North LGA.
The house is in fulfillment of a promise she made to the family two months ago when her attention was drawn to the plight of little Miss Blessing Ejike Okezie who was allegedly raped by her kinsman.
Expressing his thanksgiving to the Nigerian First Lady and her Abia State counterpart, the father of the victim, Ejike Okezie, a driver in Lagos, prayed God to bless Mrs. Buhari and Mrs. Ikpeazu over the gesture and for their spirit of helping and looking after the poor.
Mr. Okezie who was displeased that God remembered them through this way, however said the issue of the boy who raped his daughter was not a good one and urged parents and other youths to learn from it as a bad thing.
He attributed the act to idleness which he said brings bad behaviours, pointing out that if engaged, Satan will not use them as such and called on government at all levels to provide employment for the teeming population of youths in the country to keep them away from negative vices.
He urged Mrs. Ikpeazu to continue with her good works, while urging the governor himself not to entertain any fears on the many court actions against him and to put his trust in God, praying that the governor will be victorious at the end.
Speaking also, the mother of the victim and a petty trader, Mrs. Chinaza Ejike Okezie said she would not what Gov. Ikpeazu and his wife did for them and asked God to bless and strengthen her in her bid to assist the poor and needy.
She told Mrs. Buhari that “for having come to their aid of the person like us, God will bless you and your husband.
Earlier during the commissioning of the building Mrs Ikpeazu said the house was built through her NGO the Vicar Hope Foundation to help alleviate the suffering of the family.
She said that the mother of the victim, Mrs. Okezie Ejike will be empowered to start a small business so that she can contribute to the upkeep of the family while one of the daughters will be put through school up to university level in fulfillment of the scholarship which Governor Okezie Ikpeazu promised of when their daughter faced an unforeseen circumstance.
Mrs. Ikpeazu used the opportunity to disclose that the present government believes in justice and equity and he was determined to use his leadership to touch the lives of the downtrodden in the society.
In her speech, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Lady Chinedu Brown thanked the wife of the Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu on behalf of Abia women for effective representation of womenfolk and touching people’s lives through her programs.
In his remarks the chairman Umuahia north LGA Chief Okezie Ezeigbo and a former member of the State House of Assembly chief Emeka Ejiogu commended the humanitarian service of the governor’s wife to the public and assured that they will not fail to give them hundred percent now and in 2019.
Speaking also the paramount ruler of the area Eze Nzenwata Mbakwe and Eze Paul Uzuegbu thanked the wife of the governor for her kind gesture and declared that such action was a true demonstration of a public oriented government and prayed that God will continue to uphold them in bringing succour to the needy.
Miss Blessing was two months ago raped by a man that should have been considered a townsman. She is currentky in JSS1 and aged 12 years.
She is the second daughter in a family of two boys and two girls and is now to enjoy scholarship from the state government up to the university level.
