Abia is a model state in fight against corruption – ICPC boss

The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Barrister Ekpo Nta, has described Abia State as a model state in Nigeria in the fight against corruption and corrupt practices.

Barrister Nta made the remark recently at the ICPC Headquarters, Abuja recently while declaring open, a training workshop for Local Government Chairmen and officials in Abia State on Anti-Corruption Best Practices.

The ICPC boss recalled that Abia State hosted an Anti-Corruption Summit in January and was the only state that sent all members of its House of Assembly to a seminar for Legislators organised by the Commission, underscoring the seriousness it attaches to the fight against corruption.

In his goodwill message, Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, assured ICPC of the unwavering commitment of the Abia State Government to the fight against corruption.

Governor Ikpeazu, who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications, Mr. Sam Hart Esq, thanked the ICPC for its decision to procure all its conference materials from Aba.

Participants at the 3-Day Training Workshop had in attendance, 4 delegates from each of the 17 LGAs in Abia State comprising the Chairmen, Deputy Chairmen, Heads of Service and Treasurers and officials of the Abia State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs led by the Permanent Secretary, Pastor Iheanyi Enyinnah.
