Abia to establish vehicle manufacturing plant

As part of its plan to review its industrialization policy of the state, Abia State Government says it is poised to set up a vehicle manufacturing plant in Aba, the commercial city of the state soon.

Commissioner for Information, John Okiyi Kalu disclosed this while briefing the press at the Government House on the outcome of the first executive council, exco meeting by the reconstituted executive council.

The project, which is a public private partnership venture between the government and a Chinese company, is a direct foreign investment in the state.

Okiyi also said that some investors from Brazil and other parts will soon be opening shops in the state.

According to him, the new EXCO, which was welcomed by the Governor was briefed in its sitting, while it deliberated much on the economic blueprint of the state and the need to integrate the efforts of the ministries to ensure that better results are achieved.

The information boss said a number of projects were reviewed and approved by the EXCO including street lighting project covering most part of Umuahia urban, as well as the approval for about 8 other roads in Aba.

He said that the members of the executive council expressed their commitment to work with the governor to realize the set target.
