Abia APC United, Ready for 2027 Elections — Deputy Speaker Kalu

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu has declared that the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State remains united ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying the party remains a formidable political force in the state.

Kalu spoke after a strategic meeting held Saturday night in Abuja which brought together the APC National Working Committee (NWC) and key stakeholders from Abia State.

The gathering followed the suspension of the party’s Ward and Local Government Congresses which were halted last week due to reported discrepancies.

In a statement in Abuja, Kalu dismissed claims of factional divisions within the Abia chapter, saying all differences had been resolved.

“There is no faction in Abia State,” he stated, adding that members had agreed to align with the directive of the national leadership.

He emphasized that the party’s focus is now on unity and discipline, saying the goal is to reposition the APC for electoral success in 2027.

The meeting was chaired by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda with members of the NWC and prominent Abia APC leaders in attendance.

Among those present were the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkeiru Onyejeocha, and other former and serving lawmakers while Senator Orji Uzor Kalu reportedly called in to express support for the outcome.

The National Chairman said all issues affecting the state chapter had been settled. He expressed confidence that the rescheduled congresses would be peaceful.

The Ward and Local Government Congresses have now been fixed for Wednesday and Thursday. Party leaders say the development strengthens the APC’s preparations for the 2027 elections.
