Abducted Borno King Hunter, Others Allegedly Murdered by Boko Haram

A Borno State king hunter, Baba Maigiwa, has been reportedly murdered by Boko Haram terrorists in an amnesty deal that went south, DAILY TIMES gathered.
The king hunter was murdered with three other headhunters that accompanied him to the negotiation with Boko Haram.
Maigiwa, a staunch supporter of the military, set out on a mission to Sambisa forest to convince Boko Haram insurgents to lay down arms and accept the federal government’s amnesty deal. But it turned out that the assurance he received from the insurgents was an empty promise.

Four of them, including his three escorts, were abducted on the mission
An infallible but anonymous source said Mr Baba-Maigiwa and his colleagues were slaughtered on the 27th of July, 2020.
Their deaths were suspected to have been influenced by their role as a combatant. It is part of the Boko Haram and ISWAP creed not to spare any combatant person who had picked up arms against them. The hunters had openly mobilised to fight Boko Haram, as such the insurgent now tag them as their enemy.
The family of Mai-Giwa is still oblivious about this development at the time of filing this report. According to a source who called to ask the family for an update on his continued disappearance, the family said they are still praying for God’s intervention.
