AAU ASUU commends Obaseki over road reconstruction in Ekpoma

The unprecedented reconstruction of roads in the University town of Ekpoma in Esan West local government area of Edo State by the state Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, attracted the attention of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ambrose Alli University Chapter who described the gesture as “Decisive Intervention”. This was contained in a statement issued by the Chairman and Secretary of ASUU, AAU Chapter, Dr. Monday Igbafen and Dr. Anthony Aizebioje-Coker respectively at Ekpoma. According to the statement, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma Chapter of ASUU has acknowledged the ongoing massive construction and rehabilitation of roads, including roads from Ekpoma town linking the major Benin-Abuja high way, in the University town of Ekpoma by the Edo State Government and commended Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the Governor of the State, for the feat. “We expressed happiness over the intervention of the state government in the hitherto worrisome deplorable roads in the University town. “Last year, the deplorable state of the roads in Ekpoma and the Ekpoma axis of the Benin-Abuja high way provoked a mass protest rally in the University town of Ekpoma. “ASUU AAU Ekpoma chapter actively participated in the mass rally which called on the state and the Federal Government to come to the rescue of residents of the areas. “The Union expressed satisfaction that the construction of roads and face-lift on some roads in the university town had eased vehicular movements of residents, including the teeming staff and students of the university. “While commending the Edo State Government for being sensitive to the plight of the residents of the University town of Ekpoma, the Union called for the sustenance of the present momentum in the construction and rehabilitation of roads in Ekpoma. The Union assured the present government in the state that with its intervention in the deplorable roads in Ekpoma, history of the university community will be kind to it in future. The Union also assured the Governor of its support to make life easy for the residents of Ekpoma through intervention in the provision of social amenities that with guarantee good life.
