CAF Champions League, Confederation Cup finals postponed

CAF has officially postponed the finals of the 2019/20 CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Champions League indefinitely due to the current coronavirus crisis.
In a statement published on its website on Saturday, CAF said the decision was made after the semi-finals were postponed a week ago.

The Champions League final was set for the newly constructed Japoma Stadium in Douala, Cameroon while Confederation Cup was to take place at Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.
The statement added that return dates for the two tournaments will be communicated later.
“CAF is monitoring the situation closely and working with the relevant authorities including the Wealth Health Organization (WHO) on the impact of the virus on the continent, and will announce developments to our competitions at the appropriate time,” they wrote.

Egyptian clubs Zamalek and Al Ahly were due to take on their Moroccan counterparts Raja Casablanca and Wydad Casablancarespectively in the champions league.
In the Confederation Cup, the Egyptian side Pyramids FC was to battle Guinean side AC Horoya as Moroccan duo of Hassania Agadir and RS Berkane square it out.
CAF on April 11 postponed the CAF champions League and CAF confederation cup semi-final matches that were to take place in early May due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Other matches that were postponed include the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers. CAF Emergency Committee has not given any possible return dates for the tow tournaments.
