60-year-old woman sold to ritualists by son for N7 million

A middle age man has been accused of allegedly selling his mother to suspected ritualists for the sum of N7 million in Ondo.
It was gathered that the incident in Ondo town, the headquarters of Ondo West Local Government area of the state when some armed men invaded the residence of the 60-year-old woman identified as Rukayat Abodunde on Ayetoro street.
According to sources the gumen had shot sporadically into the air to scare off residents before whisking away the woman who was said to have a hunchback.
Confirming the abduction, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO of the Ondo State Command, Femi Joseph stated that the police is working round the clock to apprehend all those involved.
The PPRO however maintained that the family of the woman have not been helpful with the ongoing investigation.
“The incident was reported at the police station by one Omotola Oseyemi, while the police swung into action to ensure the release of the abducted woman.
“We interrogated the people in the area but it was unfortunate that members of the family are not showing enough interest in the disappearance of the woman.
“Some family members visited the station to notify the police they are no longer interested in case but will like to handle it in traditional way.”
Meanwhile, the police are also on the manhunt of the woman’s son as it was gathered that he conspired with the ritualists and sold her mother to them for ritual purposes.
According to a family source, “the hunchback woman who sells fish beside her house was abducted by two gunmen who pretended to have come to buy fish from the hunchback woman around 10pm.
“They started shooting into the air to scare away people and dragged the landlady, Abodunde into a waiting vehicle
The source explained that the incident was reported at the police station in Ondo, while men from the command visited the house to investigate the incident.
However, there was a twist in the kidnap of the 60 year old woman, when the gunmen we’re said to have reappeared few days after the abduction of the woman, demanding for the refund of N7m from his son who is now in the run.
