52 Corps members to repeat Service, Says Delta NYSC

Authorities of the National Youth Service Corps, ( NYSC) Delta state, said that fifty two Corps members will repeat their service year ranging from two weeks to five months.

The state Coordinator NYSC, Mrs Olutayo Samuel who Confirmed this to Journalists in Asaba at a news briefing, said that the press conference became necessary to put records straight in the media, adding that Service Scheme had been disturbed with the Conflicting reports in the recent times about the 2019 Batch A Corps members.

Mrs Olutayo Samuel said” those whose cases have hit the abscondment marks were forwarded to our National Directorate Headquarters, Abuja, for ratification towards repeat of their service year to serve as deterrent to other serving Corps members, We have been disturbed with the media reports that are
Conflicting, and we deem it fit to Come out with the records Straight, we have a total of 3,011 Corps members,made up of 1,304 male and 1,707 female passed out in Delta, and many of them performed very well”
She however Commended the Corps Members during their service year, adding”those who were not found wanting performed remarkably, especially in the area of Community development including social economic development of the state, and in the area of education,health and agriculture as well as touched many lives within urban and rural areas” and assured that the Scheme would be disposed to assisting dedicated Corps members in the state at all times
On indiscipline, Mrs Olutayo Samuel said that two of the Corps Members who were found in alleged sex Scandals, were disciplined, adding”we did our best to instill discipline in the Corps Members, we found two of our Corps in sexual mess and as adults, we disciplined them and advised them to marry rather than messing up themselves in scandalous ways, it’s our duties to instill discipline on our Corps members to ensure that they had good orientation their one year Service, and the reason we are Correcting some areas that the media wrongly reported”
